Sulphur Rock's Fall Festival

Unfortunately, I had to be out of town for Lance's Fall Festival at school. Of course, Mom was more than willing to take him. I called once they got to Nana's house to get a "recap" of the night's events.

I pre-paid for Lance to have 20 tickets to play games. First, he wanted to do the cupcake walk. He Won! Typical of Lance, he ate ONLY the icing and threw the cupcake away. Then, mom took him to the room where they had all of the silent auction items displayed. He wasn't the least bit interested so Mom didn't even get to look at everything. Then, he went to his classroom to play Go Fishin'. He won a coupon for free french fries at Wendy's. Ms. Patricia could tell he wasn't too excited. She said, "You do like french fries don't you?" Of course, he said "no" - the child is just not right! So, sweet Ms. Patricia swapped it for M&Ms. Then, he tried the hula hoop. He just couldn't get his hips moving right to keep it going. He did give it a valiant effort though. He did the candy bar walk, the bean bag toss, the ring toss, putt-putt golf, the football throw, digging for treasures in the corn, bingo, and face painting. He passed on the Haunted House and the fortuneteller. He, Brandon, Cameron, and Laney all said they weren't going through the haunted house. It did have the longest waiting line, but all of the kids were older too. The room where the fortuneteller sat was dark. Lance wasn't sure about that either.

His favorite was the face painting. He went 4 times. He knew exactly what he wanted each time. First, he asked for big eyebrows with one side orange and the other black. Then, he went back later and asked for a ghost on one cheek and some orange and black design on the other. He really wanted a black cat but the girl didn't think she could draw one. He decided later that he wanted an S with two lines through it drawn on his nose. Mom had no idea what he was talking about but Mrs. Terhune's daughter did. She drew a dollar sign in green . . . (do not ask me why, because I have no idea where this came from). In that same room, he tried the football throw. He got it in the net on all 3 attempts. So, he won 3 blow pops. He was so excited. Then, he made one out of 3 putts at the putt-putt golf. He got 2 out of 3 bean bags through the holes on the bean bag toss. Then, he really surprised Mom when he stuck his hand all the way to the bottom of the corn looking for a prize at the bottom. Some big kid wanted a popcorn ball and the teacher said that they were at the bottom. Lance got one and gave it to the kid. Then, he chose the big plastic spider. Next, he tried the ring toss and won a 2 liter bottle of Cranberry Sierra Mist. Mom could barely hold all of his winnings. Time was running out and he and Brandon wanted to have something else painted on their faces. He told Mom that he would like to have his whole body painted...ha! He was running out of places on his face, so he asked the girl to draw a spider web between his eyebrows and a spider on his hand. He and Brandon sat so still. Mom said they were too cute! Thank goodness time ran out, because Mom was afraid Lance might have had more body painting.

Mom couldn't get over how all of the kids (from youngest to oldest) called each other by name in the halls. Lance knew everyone. He acted so big and had the best time. He did want to take a bath and get it all washed off after he and Mom got to her house. He stayed at Nana and Papa's of course. Mom said he was pooped and fell asleep before 9:30.

Man, I wish I could have been there! It sounds like it was some festival!
