Our family is off to a great start this year! Scott and I have been busy making lots of changes to the house. We bought a smaller table for the breakfast area. It is cozier . . . Lance said he wanted to eat EVERY meal at the table! For those of you who don't know, Lance is a very picky eater. I don't know that he has EVER eaten a meal! He certainly has NEVER sat at the table and eaten a meal with us. He "snacks" throughout the day rather than eating a meal. You know, he is 6 years old and has never eaten a hamburger. We are lucky that the child has tried chicken nuggets and fish sticks! Anyway, we held him to his word. I made supper last night so we could ALL sit down and eat at the new table. He said he "wanted the table to be full of food like Nana's" (ha, ha)! To our amazement, Lance sat down first and started loading his plate with spaghetti noodles. We ate our FIRST meal as a family together last night! I am so proud of us all! Lance is so proud of the new table that he even offered to clean it after we ate last night!
Scott added wooden blinds to the breakfast area too. They look great! I organized the laundry room, which included Scott's "pile of clothes". We added new hardware and blinds to the bathroom. Scott bought me a flat screen television for my bathroom so that I could watch the news in the morning instead of Spongebob Squarepants with Lance! Thank you Scott!!!
We also had to replace the Mazda Tribute (again) since it was totaled in the accident. We shopped and shopped. We test drove another Mazda Tribute which had a DVD player. Lance was immediately hooked on the DVD player. The more I drove the Tributes, the more I decided I needed to finally move to another vehicle. I think the SUV has been a lifesaver for us as far as protecting our family during two collisions with deer (2005 and 2008). I first had a 2002 Mazda Tribute and then purchased a 2005 Tribute since it held up so well in our wreck. I then decided that the Tribute seemed to be a "deer magnet" so we started looking at Hyundai Santa Fe's. While we were looking at those, we ran across a Chevy Uplander. We decided to give it a test drive. Well, it had a DVD player so Lance was sold! Then it had third row seating, satellite radio, and all sorts of added features. We finally purchased a 2008 Chevy Uplander from Mark Martin Ford in Batesville. It isn't considered a mini-van which was my biggest concern. Even though I am a soccer mom, I just wasn't ready to be labeled "a soccer mom with a van". It just isn't me! I would love to be able to drive around in my old Mazda MX-6, but I can't. I just have way too much "stuff" to drag around. I am enjoying the Uplander. It is new and different which is good. I also feel quite sure that it is large enough to plow over any deer that gets in my way!!!!!!!!!!
The Pinkston Family is determined to have a great year in 2009! We truly are doing "out with the old and in with the new" this year! We start back to work on Monday. Hopefully, we can keep on track once we get back to the "normal life".

How dare you suggest that you have too much stuff for your little Mazda MX-6! We hauled anything we wanted to in that little car, including a tree!
