Let the Soccer Games Begin!

The rules of soccer are simple:
If it moves, kick it.
If it doesn't move, kick it until it does.

Lance's team, The Next Generation, has played two soccer games. We lost the first, but won the second. So far . . . Lance has done pretty well. He had some great kicks in the first game and a really good kick today! Today was a little hotter than last Saturday, so he didn't have quite the energy he had last week.

He is loving soccer! He has a great little team of 5 and 6 year old boys and girls. Practices are pretty exciting too! We practice every Tuesday night at 6:30. We have scrimmaged against several teams. One night, the parents played the kids. Yes, I played! It was a riot! The big joke before the game was that all the adults would be hurting and sore the next day. After the game, it was a different story. We "beat" the kids - literally. It was all moms and one dad. We kicked the ball and hit kids in the head, in the chest, and in the stomach. We ran into kids, over kids, and tripped kids. I kicked the ball and sent one kid's legs flying in the air right out from under his body. By the end of the game, I think every kid had been hurt and was crying. We thought they might not ever play again for fear of getting hurt. It sounded like a good idea BEFORE we played them. It was wild!!!

Needless to say, the kids have recovered and are doing great! We have had two minor falls in the last two games so all is good! We are looking forward to many more games this soccer season! I will be happy if Lance makes it without getting seriously hurt and just has fun!!!
