Update on My Brother, Chris

As most of you know, Chris has been deployed to Afghanistan for the next twelve months. He left on May 30th. My parents and Stefanie keep me up-to-date on him. I received an email from him this week. Lance and I are busy working on a care package to send him. We have had a lot of fun shopping and putting it together.

Chris sent Stefanie a photo today of his new mode of transportation. No, I'm kidding! He did send her a picture of a mule (he says his name is Enass) that carries their supplies up the mountains of Afghanistan. Chris looks great in the picture which makes me feel relieved!

Stefanie is doing so much better than I would be if I were her. She is such a strong and independent young woman. I truly admire her! She started Morgan in preschool at the beginning of the month. I think Morgan is really enjoying it. Gavin is getting bigger every time I see pictures of him. He is such a cutie . . . and so is Morgan!

I know that it is hard on Stef having Chris away, but she is focused. She is involved in a project called "Climb to Afghanistan". It's in support of the troops in Afghanistan. She will climb Pikes Peak in Colorado Springs on September 12th! She said that if Chris could climb the mountains in Afghanistan for a year, then she could do it for one day. You can check out this website for information AND to help sponsor Stefanie. Go to www.pikespeakchallenge.com and choose Stefanie Carpenter from the registrants.

Please keep Chris, his soldiers, and his family in your prayers! It is going to be a long year! Chris, we love you and are so proud of you! Happy Father's Day!!!
